Kenneth Meli is an orthopaedic technologist and educator dedicated to developing rehabilitation and prosthetic care services in Kenya. He currently serves as President of the National Association of Orthopaedic Technologists<\/strong> (NAOT) and is the founder of Prime Point Wellness Centre, a rehabilitation facility focused on making prosthetics accessible and sustainable throughout Kenya. <\/p>\n

As the representative for SwissABILITY in Kenya,<\/strong> Kenneth coordinates and supports local training activities, contributing to the professional development of local orthopedic technicians. Henrique Luis Matsinhe is a Certified Orthopedic Technician who graduated from the Institute of Health Sciences in Maputo. <\/span><\/p>\n

Since 2021, Henrique has worked as Head Orthopedic Technician at Obra Dom Orione in Maputo\u2014a center that welcomes and provides care for over one hundred children with severe disabilities. In 2026, he established his own independent, professional orthopedic center,<\/strong> with the goal of putting his technical expertise at the service of people throughout Mozambique. <\/span>\u202f<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

He collaborates with SwissABILITY on training programs for orthopaedic technicians, both in Mozambique and abroad.<\/strong> By sharing his know-how and field experience, he contributes to the provision of prostheses and orthoses, as well as the assembly of physical rehabilitation equipment for people with disabilities\u2014thereby strengthening local expertise and expanding access to quality orthopaedic care. <\/span>\u202f<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

In 2014 Nsengiyuma qualified as a Certified Orthopedic Technician at the Tanzania Training Center for Orthopedic Technology<\/strong> (TATCOT) in Moshi, Tanzania. Since completing his training, he has consistently applied his professional expertise to the field of orthotics and prosthetics, working in hospitals and rehabilitation centers across both rural and urban areas of Tanzania. <\/span>\u202f<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Stella Kitali is a highly talented and experienced manager. After earning a degree in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam<\/strong>, she went on to obtain a Master\u2019s degree in Strategic Management from the Maastricht School of Management in Arusha.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

After twenty years in leadership roles within the commercial sector, she left SwissPort Tanzania to dedicate herself to humanitarian work and help improve her country\u2019s healthcare system. She went on to establish the Desire Charitable Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre<\/strong>\u2014a comprehensive orthopedic hospital created to demonstrate that quality medical care can be both achievable and accessible, even for those with limited financial means. <\/p>\n

Through her commitment and dedication\u2014and with the support of SwissABILITY\u2014Stella Kitali has transformed this vision into a concrete reality. Today, the center provides surgical, clinical, and rehabilitative services all under one roof, restoring mobility, autonomy, and dignity to patients who would otherwise lack access to care. Her journey demonstrates how managerial expertise and a spirit of service can come together to create lasting change in her home country, Tanzania. <\/p>\n

Dr. Bryceson Loti Kiwelu is an orthopaedic surgeon and traumatologist with twenty years of experience as a surgeon and as a director of healthcare institutions and hospitals.<\/p>\n

After earning a medical degree from the Muhimbili University College in Dar es Salaam<\/strong>, he obtained a master\u2019s degree in Orthopedics and Traumatology from the Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College in Moshi<\/strong>, and completed specialized orthopedic and management training programs in Europe, Asia, and Africa.<\/p>\n

He is the co-founder and clinical director of the Desire Charitable Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre in Kibaha<\/strong>\u2014a hospital that has been supported by SwissABILITY since its inception. The facility is one of a kind in Tanzania: it brings together clinical, surgical, and rehabilitative services under one roof, covering everything from the treatment of fractures and amputations to the provision of prosthetics and the functional recovery of patients. <\/p>\n

Thanks to his extensive experience and exceptional clinical and managerial skills, he is also called upon at a national level to carry out training and quality control activities in the field of orthopedic surgery.<\/p>\n

He holds a diploma in Orthopedic Technology and an advanced diploma in Health Leadership and Management from Tanzania.<\/p>\n

Sarani is a highly qualified Senegalese manager and program coordinator, specializing in advocacy for victims of anti-personnel landmines. He holds a degree in sociology from Assane Seck University in Ziguinchor,<\/strong> <\/em>Senegal, and has received training in project management from the Higher Institute of Management (ISM).
He currently serves as the coordinator of Initiative Solidaire des Actions de D\u00e9veloppement (ISAD), an organization that works in the field of mine action and supports impoverished, conflict-affected populations in the Casamance region. Through a partnership with SwissABILITY, ISAD was also able to establish the Centre de R\u00e9adaptation Physique de Ziguinchor (CRPZ)<\/a>\u2014an orthopedic and rehabilitation center built and equipped to improve access to physical rehabilitation services in the region. <\/p>\n

Sarani is himself a victim of anti-personnel mines\u2014having lost his left leg at the age of 12 to a mine planted in his schoolyard by rebels\u2014and he has therefore made his work his life\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n
