Our first mission in 2025 was to Sierra Leone.

Our vice-president, Julian Lair, and Roberto Agosta of SwissABILITY departed from Malpensa Airport (Milan) with seven pieces of luggage filled to the maximum weight limit with materials and components to facilitate a week of training on prosthetic leg production. At the Addis Ababa airport they met Nelson Mubiru, one of our trainers, and together they continued their journey to Freetown.

Previously, the local coordinators had recruited 14 participants for training and 21 amputees who would benefit from a prosthetic replacement leg made by the participants under the guidance and training of Julian (who is an orthopaedic surgeon) and Nelson. With the materials, components, participants and amputees all in one place, training began on Monday 24 March.
