Advanced Prosthetics & Orthotics Care Center in Eldoret is a private centre providing prosthetic solutions with a wide range of options to high-middle-class patients in Kenya. However, it lacks low-cost, suitable, and quality technologies to offer to the amputee population with limited financial resources.
With this training project, SwissABILITY aims to contribute to the education of local orthopedic technicians by introducing innovative low-cost technology suitable for the most vulnerable people with disabilities in the region.
During 2024, a training session will therefore be organized in Eldoret, which aims to provide adequate orthopedic training to a group of at least 15 orthopedic technicians who can in turn pass on the skills learned during the courses to other young recruits. At the same time, the project will contribute to providing new prostheses for approximately 20 amputees.
