One week: one exceptional international team; eleven trained orthopedic technicians; fourteen new prostheses created; another eight in production… From May 8 to 12, 2023 in Sierra Leone was an intense, but truly impactful mission.
Goal of the mission? The training of local orthopedic technicians; the donation of prostheses to amputees in urgent need, and the planning of future projects.
SwissABILITY is in fact running a project related to a training cycle for orthopedic centers in Sierra Leone, with the aim of providing new skills and knowledge to professionals and contributing to the donation of prostheses to amputees in the country.
This training thus represents the first step in SwissABILITY’s journey in Sierra Leone, which will be a long and fruitful path.
